This November the nursery celebrated Diwali and Bandi Chhor divas.

Diwali is a 5-day festival of light and is one of the major festivals celebrated by the Hindu faith. Hindus celebrate the return of the deities Rama and Sita to Ayodhya after their 14-year exile. Bandi Chhor Divas is a Sikh festival that commemorates the day the sixth Guru of the Sikh faith Guru Hargobind ji, was released from Gwalior Fort as well as being able to secure the release of 52 Princes with him. This day symbolises freedom and justice for all.

EYEC celebrated the festivals through vibrant colours, lights, decorations and food as well as engaging in a number of cultured activities. The children made paper lanterns and candle holders out of clay and used sequins and gems to decorate them.

On the day of Diwali and Bandi Chhor divas the parents were greeted with a table of Indian sweets in the morning and the children enjoyed traditional Punjabi meals including, butter chicken, Paneer and  sabji (mix vegetable dish) prepared by the admin and kitchen staff complete with an array of Indian sweets. Later that day the children got together in the garden and danced to some traditional songs and music.
