Local area

170 Queen's Gate is located in South Kensington, in an area also referred to as Albertopolis, so-called because of Prince Albert's (Queen Victoria's husband) involvement in supporting many of the cultural and educational institutions that surround Exhibition Road. Prince Albert is doubly honoured with the Albert Memorial statue in Hyde Park sitting directly opposite the Royal Albert Hall.

There are plenty of activities suitable for all ages in South Kensington - and even better many of them are free!

The Museums

Three of London's largest museums can be found along Exhibition Road: the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, all of them offering free entry.

The Natural History Museum is one of London’s architectural treasures and is filled with wonders from the natural world.
Don't miss: being greeted by Dippy the Dinosaur located in the entrance to the museum. From the Summer of 2017 you will instead be welcomed by an 82ft Blue Whale skeleton.

The Science Museum has many intriguing interactive exhibits for fun and learning for the whole family.
Don't miss: visiting the Launchpad - hands-on science has never been more fun!

The Victoria and Albert Museum is a haven for fans of art and design and is home to 3,000 years’ worth of amazing artefacts from many cultures.
Don't miss: lunch in the courtyard. There's a fountain for the kids to paddle in while you can take in the stunning surrounding architecture.

Royal Albert Hall

Royal Albert Hall is one of the UK’s most loved and distinctive buildings, recognisable the world over. Each year it hosts more than 350 performances, including the BBC Proms.

Hyde Park

Hyde Park is a vast Royal Park. Here you will find the Diana Memorial Fountain, the Serpentine Gallery and the Serpentine Lido, where on a hot day, keen swimmers bathe alongside the ducks.

Shopping

For absolutely fabulous luxury shopping, head for Harvey Nichols and Harrods in Knightsbridge. Oxford Street is also just a short bus journey away.
