The Caro Alumni Lecture Series is a new initiative from the Department of Bioengineering celebrating the remarkable achievements of our alumni community. Many of our graduates have gone on to make significant contributions across academia, industry, and healthcare, driving innovation and shaping the future of bioengineering worldwide.
The lecture series is named in honour of Professor Colin Caro, whose pioneering research and entrepreneurial spirit helped shape the field of bioengineering. Through his involvement in founding and supporting technology spin-outs, he exemplified how scientific discovery can translate into real-world impact, and his contributions continue to inspire those working to advance bioengineering today.

The Bioengineering Industry Showcase
Before this year’s Caro Alumni Lecture, we’ll host our Bioengineering Industry Showcase —an afternoon dedicated to exploring the vibrant interface between research, innovation, and enterprise. The showcase will bring together staff, students, alumni, and industry representatives to share insights, build connections, and celebrate the impact of bioengineering across sectors.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with companies working at the forefront of biomedical innovation, learn about exciting career pathways, and discover how research in our department continues to translate into real-world applications.
The Caro Alumni Lecture will take place every other year, celebrating the achievements and impact of Bioengineering alums. Each lecture will spotlight a graduate whose career reflects the innovation, collaboration, and real-world impact that define our community.
If you are a Bioengineering alum interested in getting involved or supporting future lectures, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch with Kemi Aofolaju.
