Graduate Teaching Assistants

Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA's) are PhD students who provide contribution to a variety of activities: 

• Teaching: support in the preparation and execution of undergraduate practical teaching (laboratories, makerspaces and workshops), study groups, journal club leaders and drop-in sessions
• Marking coursework
• Second marking exams
• Invigilating (Exams, masteries and progress tests)
• Note-taking
• One to one tutorials
• Sitting exam papers to check for errors
• Running revision sessions for first, second and third mastery attempts

The Department of Bioengineering very much welcomes, and encourages, all PhD students to get involved in GTA work. It is a great opportunity to broaden your skill set and become immersed in the Department as a whole.
