AB - This article addresses the problem of model order reduction for nonlinear systems. Among the many possible approaches that can be described, we select nonlinear moment matching and nonlinear balancing because of their close relation with control theoretic concepts. We first reinterpret linear methods from a nonlinear perspective, then show how nonlinear methods naturally evolve as extensions of the linear results.
