The Governor’s MEng Prize is awarded annually to "the best student in the final year of an undergraduate Bioengineering course for all-round excellence."

With it comes a financial reward of £100. The money and a certificate are handed out on Graduation Day.

The Year 2 Biomedical Engineering Prize for Best Design Group Project is an annual prize for the best Design and Professional Practice group project in the second year of the MEng in Biomedical Engineering undergraduate course.

The Year 2 Molecular Bioengineering Prize for Best Design Group Project is an annual prize for the best Design and Professional Practice group project in the second year of the MEng in Molecular Bioengineering undergraduate course.

The Year 3 MEng Prize for Best Design Group Project is an annual prize for the best group project in the third year of the MEng or final year in the BEng in Biomedical Engineering undergraduate course. With it comes a reward of a £20 gift voucher for each group member. 

The Centenary Prize is awarded annually to “the best student in the Intercalated BSc Medical Sciences with Biomedical Engineering undergraduate Bioengineering course for the best year result."

The Biomedical Engineering Best Project Prize is an annual prize for the best individual project in the final year of the MEng in Biomedical Engineering undergraduate course.

The Molecular Bioengineering Best Project Prize is an annual prize for the best individual project in the final year of the MEng in Molecular Bioengineering undergraduate course.

This prize is endowed by the Trust Fund of The Worshipful Company of Engineers, “ for excellence on an accredited undergraduate engineering course conducted at one of eleven universities within London and the Home Counties. Besides academic excellence, the recipients of the Awards must have demonstrated self-confidence, professional awareness, leadership and sound common sense.” With it comes a financial reward of £2,500. Usually, nominations are called for towards the end of a calendar year. A candidate is nominated by the department to the Faculty, who select the College nominee. Candidates must be British Citizens with the right of residence in the UK and be in their final year, studying for an MEng.

Awards are open to undergraduates of an accredited MEng engineering degree. For the Standard Award, they must be UK national of any year. For the Advanced Award, they must be second year of all nationalities. Applicants must plan to pursue a career in engineering. In addition, for the Advanced Award, they are expected to work towards leadership positions within 5 years of graduation. They must also be intellectually and technically strong, have personal drive and clarity of career ambitions and have a breadth of interests. Value: up to £5000 (Advanced) and £300 (Standard).

Each year in the summer term, the department runs a competition allowing students to submit a learning and teaching resource which contributes to the improved understanding and awareness of Bioengineering as an emerging field within engineering. This initiative provides students with the opportunity to engage deeply with the subject while contributing to the broader educational experience.

Submissions are evaluated based on three key criteria: engagement, technical accuracy, and clarity of presentation and are reviewed by a panel of three judges from our learning and teaching team.

The competition offers a first prize of £100, along with three runner-up prizes of £50 in vouchers.

Various awards and grants administered by the Trust are traditionally available to students of the Bioengineering as one of the seven engineering departments of the former City & Guilds College.

Each year the College calls for nominations for the Student Award for Outstanding Achievement in any extramural activity that brings credit to the College.
