Bioengineering - Work Experience Guidance

Bioengineering Outreach offer general work experience placements to Y12 students only as part of the University’s schools outreach summer schools.

If you wish to host work experience students in the department, please follow the process below.

Supervisor to:

  1. Ask Resources and Staffing Manager (Bioeng-staffing@imperial.ac.uk) for confirmation that placement can go ahead, and to enrol you for a DBS check (please be aware that completion of a DBS check can take a few weeks). Please include the following in your request email:
    - Supervisor name
    - Student name
    - Short description of the type of work experience
    - Start date
    - End date
  2.  Refer to the guidance and complete the forms here: Work experience 
    - Work Experience Placement Agreement
    - Work Experience Induction Checklist
    - Children and Young Persons Risk Assessment (guidance can be found here)
  3. Email a copy of the completed forms to f.reeve@ic.ac.uk
  4. Request a guest card from bg-officemngt@imperial.ac.uk including details of start/ end dates and rooms to which access is required
  5. Carry out the Right to Work Check (guidance here – see in-person manual RTW 3 step process)
  6. Complete the Day One Health and Safety Induction

Work experience students are covered under Imperial's Employers' Liability
