Intro to ME4 Lecture
This will take place on Tuesday 9th June.
Core modules
In year 4, your core modules are:
- Final Year Project (worth 25 ECTS)
- Advanced Application module (worth 10 ECTS)
Advanced Application (AA) module
You can choose one of the following options as your AA module.
- Aircraft Engine Technology
- Future Clean Transport Technology
- Metals Processing Technology
- Mechanical Transmissions Technology
- Robotic Manipulators and Automation Technology
Elective modules
You will also select five electives, worth 5 ECTS each. Up to two of your electives can be Interdepartmental Exchange (IDX) modules.
IDX modules
If you are taking the Nuclear Engineering stream, three of your electives are core and compulsory. This means you will only choose two elective modules.
- Nuclear Materials 1
- Nuclear Thermal Hydraulics
- Nuclear Reactor Physics
2026-27 ONLY
- Nuclear Fusion A has replaced Nuclear Chemical Engineering as a core and compulsory elective in ME3.
- If you did not choose Nuclear Fusion A as an elective in ME3, you must take Nuclear Fusion B as a core and compulsory elective in ME4.
- This means you will only choose one elective.
You can find the full list of available IDX modules on the IDX webpage.
If you wish to take the Aeronautics IDX modules Applications of Fluid Dynamics OR Spacecraft Propulsion (you cannot take both due to timetabling clashes), your choice should be submitted via DSS by date TBC.
All other IDX modules are submitted via the module selection survey by 5pm on Friday 27th June.
Module restrictions
Some ME4 modules cannot be taken together due to timetabling clashes.
