We provide direct independent equipment access to our collaborators.

Our instruments are available on collaborative use with a fee to help cover service contracts only. You must complete a lab induction before using the collaboration area and booking equipment for the first time. To request a lab induction or make a booking, you would need an iLab account. Once you have created an account, please contact Jessica Tam or Hamza Halane to arrange a suitable time for your induction. Refer to iLab Booking Instructions.docx if you are unsure about how to make a booking on iLab.

After you have completed the initial lab induction, additional induction and training sessions are required for the use of the cryostats, microtomes, and slide scanner.  To arrange the cryostat and microtome induction, please contact Nathalie Lambie. To arrange the slide scanner training, please contact Nik Matthews with the following information:

  1. What tissue type you are working with.
  2. Which imaging mode you wish to use - brightfield or fluorescence (FL).
  3. For brightfield - the stains you are using.
  4. For FL - the markers you are using and the excitation and emission values of the markers.
  5. Whether you already have experience with microscopy and on the AxioScan 7.

Rainin and Eppendorf pipettes are available in the collaboration area but the user must provide any required kits, chips, and consumables including pipette tips. Please only use the equipment supplied on the shared facility benches.

It is your responsibility to keep the collaboration area tidy which includes changing the bin, recycling tip boxes, safely disposing of reagents, telling us if something is broken or not working, etc. If you need any advice (e.g. a place to put old or unused reagents, find new and dispose of old bin bags, etc) please speak to us.

List of Collaborative Access Instruments

QC
  • Invitrogen Qubit 2 - A benchtop Fluorometer used for the quantitation of DNA, RNA and protein.
  • Agilent Bioanalyser – An automated electrophoresis instrument for QC assessment of sizing, integrity and quantitation of RNA and DNA.
