By collaborating with us you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.

  1. Project Planning Discussions
Get in touch with us to discuss your project at the earliest stage possible. Our expertise and subsequent advice can enable you to maximise your grant and create better quality sequencing data. Email us at igf@imperial.ac.uk to arrange a consultation.

  2. Sample Submission and Delivery
Adhere to the submission guidelines exactly to avoid delays. This includes ensuring the labelling of samples, container used, sample quantity and quality, and completion of the sample submission form all match the requirements stated in the guidelines. We cannot accept samples if they are incorrectly labelled or in the wrong container.

  3. Sample Storage
Samples will be stored at the Facility for a maximum of 6 months from the day they are submitted and will be discarded after 6 months.

  4. Project Timelines
Follow the agreed upon timelines for your project.
  5. Collaboration Area

Do not use the collaboration area before you have had a lab induction. Only use the equipment available in the collaboration area. Only use the equipment in the collaboration area if you have made a booking on iLab. Do not use equipment you have not had appropriate training on. We do not provide any required kits, chips and plasticware such as pipette tips and tubes, please bring your own. It is your responsibility to keep the collaboration area tidy, which includes changing the bin, recycling tip boxes, safely disposing of reagents and reporting if something is broken or not working. Please speak to us if you need any advice, e.g. a place to put old or unused reagents, find new and dispose of old bin bags, etc. For more information, including how to arrange a lab induction and make a booking on iLab, visit our Collaborative Access Instruments page.

  6. Collaborative Facility
We do not charge (overall) for labour, equipment costs including service contracts, plasticware including tips, training, etc. You get over 100 years of experience in genomics when you work with us effectively for free. Therefore, we expect to see the BRC genomics facility in at least the acknowledgements of all papers, talks and posters.  If we, as a group, feel we require more than that e.g., authorship, we will discuss this with you.  We are not a service as our quid pro quo above reflects.
