iCARE operates the Imperial Secure Data Environment (SDE), a secure digital platform that enables approved researchers, clinicians and analysts to access and analyse de-identified health data for governed projects.

The SDE provides a new way to work with health data, bringing together large-scale, diverse datasets in a secure environment where information can be safely accessed, linked and analysed while protecting patient confidentiality.

The data available through iCARE includes routinely collected information from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust’s five hospitals, covering more than 1.5 million patient encounters each year. Through Whole Systems Integrated Care (WSIC), researchers can also access linked health and care datasets across North West London, providing a broader view of patient pathways and outcomes.
