What we do

The Risk and Resilience team combines Risk Management, Business Continuity and Incident Management to help Imperial understand potential risks and threats and how we might better prepare and respond to them in the event they happen.

The purpose of the the function is to be able to identify, assess, monitor and reduce risks, and to support the organisation to prevent, prepare for, withstand, respond to and recover from disruptions and incidents. This provides assurance to senior management, increases organisational resilience and safeguards Imperial’s capability to deliver the Strategy and fulfil its mission, ‘to achieve enduring excellence in research and education in science, engineering, medicine and business for the benefit of society’.

The function ensures that Imperial is better prepared to withstand challenges originating from a range of external and internal sources including global pandemics, geopolitical shifts, or technological failures, while embedding a culture of preparedness and agility across its operations to sustain excellence in education and research.
