The Dyson School of Design Engineering considers the health and safety of staff, students, contractors, and visitors to be of paramount importance and integral to all its activities. We expect staff, students, contractors, and visitors to share our commitment to health and safety by complying with our policies and procedures, demonstrating safe behaviours, and contributing to a positive safety culture. All members of the School community are expected to understand that they have legal and moral obligations to themselves and to one another.

Risk management

CoreStream is the new college Safety Management System that replaces the SharePoint Risk Assessment form. Here you will find templates for the following assessments: General, Biological, Plant/Plant pathogens & soil, Invertebrates, Lone Working/Out of Hours, Chemicals & Gases, Cryogens, Laser, Ionising Radiation.

Any templates which are currently not on CoreStream can be found on Imperial’s Safety page

Accidents and incident reporting

Any accident, near-miss or incident must be reported on CoreStream – Safety Management System which replaces SALUS.

Please be assured staff and students should always feel safe raising safety concerns, accident and incident reporting is a vital part of our health and safety management system.

Investigations are conducted to understand what went wrong and how we can prevent it from happening again. If preferred, staff and students can report an incident or concern anonymously. This can be done by contacting either the Department Safety Officer or Faculty Safety Advisor directly, or by using Imperial’s Report and Support tool, which also allows for anonymous submissions regarding issues of welfare, conduct, or safety.

In an emergency, to contact Security please use the SafeZone App or call 4444 from an internal phone, or 020 7589 1000 from a mobile. Please note security contact numbers varies by campus, if visiting a different campus please check before travelling.
