Safety

• Please download the Safezone app https://www.imperial.ac.uk/estates-facilities/security/safezone/ to your phone if you don’t already have it and log in while on college property. Also consider downloading NHS Test, track and trace when it becomes available.


• Lone working policy still applies if you are working after 7pm or at weekends or you are alone in the lab.
If you don’t have lone working approval in place, ensure you apply.

• First aid: contact your nearest first aider or if no one is available contact security on 4444 or 020 7589 1000 or use the Safezone app.

Handwashing and Cleaning

•Wash your hands frequently, and use hand sanitiser or gloves when working with the microscopes

• Please notify the Technical Team if any supplies run out. 

Room Access

  2. Request safety induction and training with the relevant Technician
  3. Attend the training session (1-2h length)
  4. Fill in the induction form: BG-MicroscopyInductionForm
  5. Request access: (Please select B118/B119 when requesting the access)

Booking

Please make sure you book on PPMS every session. Unbooked time is monitored and charged too, please make sure you log out of the PPMS tracker when you are done to avoid overcharging

This lecture is focused on the SP5 but the theoretical background is the same for SP8 or Stellaris
