Admissions 2020/2021

Undergraduate degrees

  1. I am not sitting my exams. Will I still get my place?
    Answer
Although many of you will not be sitting exams, the A-level examination boards, Scottish Qualifications Authority and the IBOrg have confirmed students will receive grades this year. If your grades meet your offer conditions, your place will be confirmed accordingly. If you do not meet your offer conditions, your application will be reconsidered in full by our admissions team, who will then take a final decision as to whether your place can be confirmed. We understand that you will be awarded your qualification and grades this year without having had the opportunity to formally sit your examinations. If you feel that your results do not reflect your potential and you opt to sit the formal examinations the next time that they are available, we will not treat or consider these results as resits.

  2.  Will you still be starting courses in October 2020?
Answer:  All courses will start in October 2020 and we look forward to welcoming our new students onto our programmes.

  3. I haven’t heard anything about my UCAS application.
Answer: All applications should now have been processed so if you have not heard anything then please contact be.ugadmissions@imperial.ac.uk .

  4. I am unable to provide evidence of my English Language Requirement.
    Answer
Undergraduate/UCAS offer holders with an English language condition will have been given a deadline of the 16 July in their offer details. In light of the current disruption, we have extended this deadline to the 18 August and will keep this under review. Your offer details won’t be updated to reflect this change

As many English Language testing centres are closed, we will accept the following online test:

TOEFLiBT online: ETS will make an online 'At Home Testing' TOEFL test available in particular regions. Imperial will accept this version of the TOEFL IBT examination, but we do not consider TOEFL 'my best' scores.

IELTS online testing: IELTS have launched the IELTS indicator test that can be taken online. This will be available for a limited time while test centres remain closed. Bookings will open from 22 April 2020. Imperial will accept these IELTS results for admission to main programmes of study.
