“Engineering Everyday” category
  • Winner: "London's Eye" by Mayowa Adeyemi

Judges' comments:

"It is hard not to be captivated by this photo. The photographer has an astonishing vision for noticing small, easily overlooked details. Capturing a fascinating feat of engineering, the London Eye reflecting in a Londoner's eye is both clever and poetic. London is quite literally framed through the eye of someone who belongs to it."

  • Runner-up: "Blue hour on the Thames" by Yingming Si

Judges' comments:

"This entry combines visual beauty, a strong urban landscape, and a clear interpretation of the theme."

"The blue-hour light is well controlled and the exposure stays clean across a difficult range. The composition brings order to a crowded skyline and reads the theme without overstating it."

“Research” category
  • Winner: "Sustainable energy- why we do it" by Saskia Sherwood

Judges' comments:

"An image with a strong emotional pull. The tones are handled with care and it makes its case without spelling it out. The link to the theme is more felt than literal."

"This photo is peaceful, powerful and deeply reflective. The seal resting quietly on the ice introduces a sense of stillness and vulnerability, while the immense iceberg behind it provides scale and emotional depth. The cold tones and gentle composition beautifully capture the fragility of the natural environment. More than a wildlife photograph, it serves as a quite reminder of why sustainability must remain at the heart of research and engineering."

  • Runner-up: "Damn!" by Kiyan Eddaoudi
