Terms & Conditions

  1. Graduate and Undergraduate Teaching Assistants are permitted to complete up to 20 hours of work per week during their normal term time. This limit is set to ensure that your studies are not detrimentally affected by paid work for the Department.
  2. In addition, students with a T4 Student visa may also only work up to a maximum of 20 hours per week without exception. This is a compliance requirement for their work permit.
  3. Workers must claim hours in retropect.
  4. The Department deadline for timesheet completion is the last working day of the month. Payments for work will be made in the month following when hours are submitted.
  5. Hours must be claimed via the Timesheet App (link opposite).
  6. Casual work is not a replacement for regular paid work, and should not be relied upon as a stable source of income.
  7. Casual workers are not paid for holiday leave. They will receive an uplift on their hourly rate of 12.07%.
  8. Enrollment to the pension scheme may occur automatically if gross payments exceed the threshold. It is possible to opt out of this within 3 months.
