What we do

The Cancer & Haematology Academic Research Team (CHART) is a Clinical Trial Operations team acting as the Sponsor Coordination Centre for national and international investigator-initiated trials (IITs), sponsored by both Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHNT). As well as coordinating ICL/ICHNT-sponsored research, CHART also acts as a Contract Research Organisation (CRO) for externally academic or commercially sponsored research.

CHART supports a full range of clinical operations activities, including:

  • Study design and study document development
  • Costing
  • Contract management
  • Site set-up and management
  • Trial management and oversight
  • Monitoring
  • Data management
  • Pharmacovigilance

Our team members work closely with the ICHNT Research Delivery teams, supporting continuous collaboration with our lead site during study set-up, activation and recruitment to our trials. We also keep updated with evolving trial set-up and delivery pathways in the NHS, facilitating faster turnaround in trial activities.

We are fortunate to work with world-renowned Chief Investigators from the initial stages of protocol development, through to results analysis and publication.  CHART also collaborates closely with the Imperial Clinical Trials Unit (ICTU) and the Research Governance & Integrity Team (RGIT) to ensure our studies are operated to the highest ethical and regulatory standards.

Summary of current research

CHART manages a diverse portfolio of different cancer and haematology clinical trials, including Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products (CTIMPs), radiopharmaceutical trials, surgical trials and observational research conducted across the UK, EU, US and Asia. Please see list of current studies below.
