
The Department of Surgery & Cancer is delighted to offer funding towards any Department led MRes/MSc programmes for a student commencing their programme in the 2026/2027 academic year.
There are 20 scholarships available and every programme will be awarding at least one bursary.
Programmes included:
- Cancer Biology
- Cancer Informatics
- Cancer Innovation
- Health Policy
- Medical Robotics and Image-Guided Intervention
- Medical Robotics & Image Guided Intervention (Clinical Robotics & AI)
- Translational Research in Surgery, Perioperative and Critical Care
Eligibility
The funding shall be available to any postgraduate student who is commencing their course of study in 2026-27. Students may be full-time or part-time study mode.
Funding
The funding is valued at £2,000 towards the tuition fee rate for 2026-27. For part-time study, £1,000 will be awarded for each year of the two-year degree. Please submit your statement in either a Word or PDF document or the body text of your email.
Eligibility criteria
- To be eligible to apply for the funding you must be in receipt of an offer for the Department led MRes/MSc programmes to commence in October 2026.
- To receive the funding, you must have accepted the offer and have fulfilled all offer criteria.
Submission process
Once in receipt of an offer for Department led MRes/MSc programmes, please submit a statement of no more than 500 words at this link. Your statement should outline:
- Why the funding will be beneficial to your studies and help you to achieve your academic goals.
- How it will contribute to your future or continuing career plans.

- Confirm that the statement has not been generated by AI

Evaluation process
- All applications will be initially checked for eligibility
- Applications will then be reviewed by the panel and evaluated
