Staying safe together

Everyone has a part to play in keeping Imperial safe. By staying aware, taking small precautions, and supporting each other, we can create a campus where everyone feels secure and included.

Staying safe day to day

Our Safe and Secure pages brings together practical advice on:

  • Personal safety on campus
  • Travelling safely around London
  • Looking after your belongings
  • Dealing with emergencies

We’re developing an interactive version of this guide with a short course you can take online — helping you build confidence and know exactly what to do in different scenarios.

Supporting each other

Community safety is about more than responding to emergencies. It’s about everyday actions that make our campus welcoming and secure. By looking out for one another and sharing concerns early, we can prevent problems from escalating and support those who need it.

  • Use the SafeZone welfare button if you or someone else needs support.
  • Share information through the SafeZone tip reporting feature, which lets you pass on concerns or suspicious activity quickly and, if you choose, anonymously. It’s a simple way to tell us when something doesn’t feel right.
  • Report non-urgent concerns in other ways if you prefer every report helps us keep the community safe.
  • Get involved in safety campaigns and awareness activities across Imperial.

Share your thoughts

We’d love to work with the Imperial community to offer practical support and advice. Our team regularly runs pop-ups at events on topics like bike security and personal safety, and we’re happy to arrange visits or demonstrations tailored to your group or department. If you have suggestions or would like to set something up, please get in touch.
