The NORMS group research applied to earth resources includes the development of new methods and software to model complex geological architectures and simulate fluid flow, transport and reaction, with application to the formation of igneous and sediment-hosted ore deposits, development of methods to extract valuable metals from these deposits in-situ, and approaches to source these metals from geothermal brines.

We complement these numerical models with laboratory experiments to determine key material properties of interest, and test hypothesis for the complex, coupled physical and chemical processes that occur during deposition and extraction of metals.
