Our ethos is that EDI should be central to learning and teaching, but also to research and engineering. This has led to us integrating EDI content into our mandatory Professional Skills module and providing an optional dedicated EDI in Engineering module, equipping students with a deeper knowledge and understanding of its impact.

On this page you can find teaching resources such videos, lesson plans, lecture slides and notes. If you would like to know more about the teaching approaches within Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London you can also find module handbooks and descriptions etc.

If you use any of our resources please provide feedback through the form here!

Professional Skills / Induction

Overview

Materials in this section are designed to be used with students who have little or no prior EDI teaching. We use them in our Professional Skills modules but they would work equally well on induction programmes or as stand alone sessions.

EDI Videos

Overview

The videos in this section are designed to be used in a broad range of settings, from EDI modules to ad-hoc/one-off sessions embedded within professional skills modules or induction weeks. They could also be used for staff training or to prompt discussion during celebration/awareness weeks and days such as International Women's Day or Black History Month. The lesson plans provided are aimed at students on EDI or professional skills modules but could be adapted for use in other contexts, or used with your own planning documents.
