What is a Core Partner?

The SSCP DTP has six Core Partners: British Geological Survey, UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, Royal Botanical Gardens (Kew), RAL Space, Natural History Museum, and Zoological Society of London.

Core Partners are integrated into the management of the DTP to steer decision making and strategy.  They also engage through training speaking opportunities and the supervision of students.  

The SSCP DTP also benefits from a wider network of partners providing CASE studentships, secondment and placements, co-supervision and collaborative opportunities.

The British Geological Survey (BGS) analyses, interprets and applies Earth science for the benefit of society and industry.

The Royal Botanic Gardens Kew (Kew) inspires and delivers plant science and conservation worldwide, enhancing the quality of life and underpinned by its living and preserved collections.

The Natural History Museum (NHM) seeks to answer major questions about the natural world and innovate in engagement strategies to share, generate, and interpret new knowledge.

RAL Space carry out world-class science research and technology development with significant involvement in more than 210 spacecraft. RAL Space is an integral part of the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and is the space hub for UK Research and Innovation​, supporting its mission to create the best possible environment for research and innovation to flourish.​

The UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (UK CEH) researches terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and hydrological processes for government and industry to maintain and improve the natural environment.

The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) promotes and implements the conservation of animals and their habitats through research, conservation policy, and in- / ex- situ programmes.
