About this Challenge Team

The "sustainable welcome box" project aimed to create a thoughtful and environmentally friendly initiative for welcoming new students to Silwood campus. The design of the welcome boxes incorporates vegetarian snacks, plants and planting kits, recipes, and information about Silwood campus and life. It aimed to help new students adjust to college life more smoothly, foster a sense of belonging and community, and demonstrate the campus's commitment to their well-being and environmental stewardship. By incorporating sustainable materials and vegetarian snacks, the project reduces waste and promotes eco-friendly practices, contributing to a more sustainable campus environment.

The team created eco-friendly recycable boxes, which included vegetarian snacks, vegan/vegetarian recipes, seeds, plant pods and soil discs. The boxes were were provided to new Silwood Students. The team also published a 'Sustainable Welcome to Silwood', which provides further information about the project as well as Silwood and its surrounding area.
