Do you enjoy working in a customer focused environment providing a front-line reception/information service? If so, then this is a great opportunity for you.

The Careers Service is seeking an enthusiastic Information and Enquiries Officer to join the team. You will provide an efficient and professional welcome to users of the service, book appointments, update careers information and disseminate job vacancies via our online systems. You will work closely and collaborate with other members of the team to assist with effective and comprehensive dissemination of all careers related information.

The Careers Service works to ensure Imperial College students maintain an edge in their employability and career planning by offering a wide range of services including one to one and group advice sessions.

Duties and responsibilities

The role is varied and some of your duties and responsibilities will be:

Customer service and enquiry duties:

  • Joint responsibility for dealing with front desk enquiries from students, graduates, employers and departmental staff in person, by telephone or email.
  • Ensuring the front desk is welcoming and provides a first-class experience for students and all other callers to The Careers Service.

Information research and writing:

  • Use initiative to research careers related information and develop content for a variety of audiences.
  • Write engaging copy for a variety of mediums, including a weekly newsletter, website and for communications and marketing purposes, requiring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Office Systems:

  • Receiving, reviewing, approving and disseminating employer vacancies via the online vacancy service.
  • Reviewing and responding in a timely and professional manner to enquiries that are received into email inboxes.
  • To open up / close the Careers Service front desk daily.

General

  • Effectively prioritise own workload ensuring all tasks are completed on time and to a high standard
  • Maintaining the Careers Information room

Essential requirements

You will need to have experience of working in a customer-oriented environment. You must possess excellent communication and organisation skills, have excellent attention to detail.

Further information

The post is full time, permanent and will be based in London. There may be occasion when late evening working or travel to our other campuses is required. It is intended that the successful candidate(s) will start at the bottom of the advertised pay scale.
