Applications are invited to join a research program on “Conversion of Plastics to Chemicals” in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College, working with Dr Marcos Millan. This postdoctoral position will involve experimental work on the development and operation of high temperature pyrolysis and catalytic reactors for conversion of plastics and their derivatives and product analysis by a range of techniques.

Duties and responsibilities

The suitable candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline. He/she must be motivated, independent and hard-working with a strong research/technical background in the area of thermochemical and catalytic reactions. Knowledge of chemical reaction engineering is required, particularly on fluidised bed reactors, heterogeneous catalysis and pyrolysis reactions of solids. Experience in the design and operation of high-temperature reactors, in particular fluidised beds, as well as in thermogravimetric analysis and liquid chromatography methods is essential.

Essential requirements

The candidate must show ability to publish in international peer reviewed journals and deliver presentations to expert audiences.
