Job summary

Applicants are invited to apply for a Research Associate (RA) position in Resilient Operation of Sustainable Energy Systems (ROSES). ROSES is an EPSRC-NSFC funded six university consortium for research in Sustainable Energy Supply. The research is to be conducted to develop modelling, estimation, advanced data analytics, protection and control optimisation tool that can ascertain resilient operation of 21st century electricity networks. The position will concentrate on developing tools for detection, control and protection against fault for reliable operation of the system.

 

Duties and responsibilities

The RA will carry out research programmes around power system modelling, control, stability, network operation under faulted condition in power converter interfaced renewable generation. In addition, the RA will be expected to participate in the general activities of the ROSES consortium and attend the project meetings and events, collaborate in project report preparation, submit publications to refereed journals and to attract external research funding.

Essential requirements

You must have a good PhD in Electrical Engineering in the topics of Power, Control and Renewable Engineering (or equivalent) for appointment at Research Associate level and have previous experience in power system optimisation, modelling, control and analysis including record of publications.

Further information

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £35,477 - £38,566 per annum.
