Job summary

We are seeking to hire a Research Fellow (RF) to lead our work on Smart City Sensing as part of our Singapore Eco Cities programme of work led by PI Professor Julie McCann. This work will involve the sensing of civil infrastructures such as mechanical substructures (lifts, pipes, water collection systems etc), the communication of sensor data and its analysis to elicit knowledge regarding asset condition monitoring, anomaly detection etc. using combinations of Signal Processing and Machine Learning techniques.

Duties and responsibilities

The Adaptive Emergent Systems Engineering Lab (AESE) is primarily located in Imperial College London; however, this position will be based in Singapore working with I2R and the Singapore Housing Development Board. The RF will lead a multi-disciplinary team of 6 researchers in Singapore and will include travel to our London lab. For further information see: http://wp.doc.ic.ac.uk/aese/

Essential requirements

At Research Fellow level you must have a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, or Electrical Engineering and Electronics (or equivalent) with strong experience in:

  • Practical sensor system design, coding, and deployment.
  • Signal Processing and Machine Learning
  • Managing Research Assistants, Post-Docs, and PhD students.

The candidate should have knowledge of different programming languages like python or embedded C and can conduct practical experiments that involve collaborations between multiple disciplines or departments is an advantage. Preference will be given to applicants with a proven research record and publications in A-ranked venues in relevant areas.

You must have excellent communication skills and be able to organise your work with minimal supervision and prioritise work to meet deadlines. All applicants must be fluent in spoken and written English. Applicants will be expected to be resident in Singapore and visit Imperial College in London occasionally.
