The purpose of this Teaching Fellow post is to support the teaching requirements in the fields of Computational Data Science and Machine Learning in the Department of Earth Science and Engineering at Imperial College London. Primarily this will focus on a newly established MSc in Applied Computational Science and Engineering but will also involve supporting the development of additional degree programmes and modules planned in the fields of Computational and Data Science. The postholder will be responsible for supporting the design and delivery of the learning outcomes, teaching material, technologies, assessment and feedback, as well as project supervision, for computational data science-based teaching activities in the degree programmes within the Department.
Duties and responsibilities
Your duties will include the following:
- You will be required to prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, problems classes and other training to students in the areas of computational science, data science and machine learning.
- You will supervise student projects in these areas, providing advice on study skills and help them with learning problems.
- You will contribute to the ongoing development and modernisation of computational/data science teaching within undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in the department.
- To contribute to the integration of modern teaching technology such as automated assessment tools, GitHub Classroom, Microsoft teams, VLE’s.
You should have a relevant degree and have, or are nearing completion of, a PhD or equivalent in Research Software Engineering, Computational Science, Data Science, Machine Learning or a closely related discipline.
You should a specialist knowledge in the relevant discipline and of teaching methods and techniques within computational data science
You should have knowledge of research software engineering best practises and DevOps.
This is a full time, open-ended position.
