We are looking for an Administrative Coordinator to support the day-to-day activities across the full Professional Services portfolio including (but not limited to) student administration, research, finance, facilities, events and HR. This is a completely new role and so presents an exciting opportunity to really make a difference from day one and would be the perfect step for someone looking to gain experience and knowledge across the wide administrative work of an academic department.
The postholder will contribute to the smooth-running of the Department, in particular with administrative support to academic colleagues and support of department-wide projects and initiatives. They will also move around the different professional services teams to support periods of peak workload where additional resource is required to hit deadlines.
Duties and responsibilities
We are looking for candidates who are able to multi-task and work to deadlines in a busy office environment. You will have proven IT skills and be able to respond quickly to changing demands and priorities. You will provide excellent customer service to academic staff, researchers and students and will work with other members of the administrative team to deliver efficient and effective administrative processes.
- Previous administrative experience, preferably in an education environment
- Experience in the provision of high-level administration and support to senior members of staff or academics
- Experience with procurement / purchasing systems
- Experience in database systems for example Access, Oracle and/or any student records database.
- Excellent IT skills including proficiency in MS Office
- Excellent organisational skills including the ability to prioritise effectively when managing a high volume of work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability and willingness to adapt to changing timetables or work patterns as dictated by changing circumstances
The successful candidate should have A Levels or equivalent qualification or be able to demonstrate relevant experience.
