The Department of Earth Science and Engineering (ESE) provides degree programmes for approximately 300 undergraduates. It is one of the leading Earth Science departments in the UK with a reputation for excellence in both teaching and research and achieved over 90% overall satisfaction in the 2022 National Student Survey. We are seeking an Undergraduate Education Manager to join our Undergraduate Administration Team providing fixed-term cover for 6 months and are happy to offer this as a secondment opportunity to current Imperial College employees.

Duties and responsibilities

As Undergraduate Education Manager you hold overall responsibility for undergraduate administration with the Department including student records, administration of courses and examinations. The purpose of the post is to support an excellent student experience and help ESE’s academic and teaching staff to deliver a world-class education through duties including:

· Managing the Undergraduate Education Team staff in the delivery of all undergraduate programmes within the Department.

· Developing and maintaining an in-depth understanding of ESE’s teaching programmes, including overseeing course income, expenditure, and budgets.

· Managing the administration of ESE’s undergraduate examination processes, including timetabling, entry of grades into relevant spreadsheets, recording student attendance and all other operational aspects of exam delivery; liaising with the Department’s External Examiners and informing the College Registry accurately of all student results.

Essential requirements

We are seeking an experienced administrator with a strong customer service background, ideally within higher education. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and/or hold a relevant professional qualification. This is a varied role requiring a motivated and highly organised person able to multi-task, plan and deliver effectively. The post-holder must be proactive in their approach to their duties and be able to work with minimum supervision.

You’ll demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with staff of all levels as well as students. The post is offered as a full-time, fixed-term for 6 months, to start as soon as possible. You will be based in the Department of Earth Science and Engineering at Imperial College London (South Kensington Campus).

We are happy to offer this as a secondment opportunity to current Imperial College employees.

Due to the nature of the role it is offered as onsite only, however, the opportunity for occasional hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
