This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cardiovascular Genetics & Genomics group (https://cvgenetics.org/) at the National heart and lung Institute, Imperial College London. Our research interests focus on investigating the genetic basis of inherited cardiac conditions. The group has a track record of excellence and innovation in cardiovascular biology, imaging, genetics and genomics, with publications in top-tier journals and is based on the Imperial College Royal Brompton Campus in the heart of Chelsea

A primary objective of the post is to contribute to a new multi-centre initiative investigating the genetic basis of cardiomyopathy in 1200 patients recruited from hospital sites across England and supported by a £2M grant from the British Heart Foundation. We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist to join the team at the start of this ground-breaking research.

Duties and responsibilities

You will contribute to the overall sequencing programme of the project through generating DNA sequencing libraries, running and maintaining next generation sequencer machines and extracting DNA and RNA from human samples. You will have the opportunity to contribute to other research projects within the genetics team at the Royal Brompton and Hammersmith campuses and will contribute to the day to day running of the laboratory.

Essential requirements

• Educated to degree level in a relevant biological science
• Experience with a range of molecular biology techniques
• Excellent organisational skills
