The Vaccine Impact Modelling Consortium (VIMC, www.vaccineimpact.org) is a major collaborative initiative based within the MRC Centre for Outbreak Analysis and Modelling at Imperial College London and funded jointly by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. The MRC Centre has built upon a world-leading research group in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology to undertake applied collaborative work with national and international agencies in support of policy planning for emerging and endemic infectious diseases.
Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, finances vaccines for developing countries for several diseases including, for instance, Hepatitis B, Measles, Meningitis A and Yellow Fever. For communication to stakeholders, fundraising and planning of future investment strategies they rely critically on modelled vaccine impact estimates, generated by the VIMC. Disease-specific estimates are generated by a number of research groups, the consortium members. The secretariat, based at Imperial College and led by Dr Tini Garske, coordinates activities across the consortium, provides infrastructure to host the generated datasets and aggregates and interprets the estimates for use by the funders and other stakeholders.
Duties and responsibilities
The post of Project Coordinator has become available within the VIMC secretariat. You will be responsible for providing administrative support to all aspects of this $10.3 million grant, jointly funded by Gavi and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). It is an international collaboration comprising over a dozen partners, and working closely with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and in-country experts worldwide.
You should have a graduate level qualification (BSc or BA) or equivalent or extensive career experience of working in administrative posts supporting scientific research. You should have experience of project funding processes and of working with complex budgets and contracts.
This is a full time, fixed term post available until 31 March 22, based at the St Mary’s Campus, Paddington. Imperial College is supportive of flexible working.
