There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to develop their career in a busy teaching and research environment. The School of Public Health is looking to appoint a PhD Student Administrator. The main purpose of the post is to ensure the provision of comprehensive, efficient and effective administrative support for the School’s Postgraduate Research Degree programmes.

Duties and responsibilities

You will be responsible for ensuring a consistent approach to research degree delivery across the School, working closely with the Education Manager, Director of Postgraduate Research Studies, School Senior Postgraduate Tutor, PGR Supervisors and Departmental Co-ordinators. You will also be required to establish good working relationships with academic and administrative staff within the School, as well as other staff across the College including the Registry.

Your excellent communication and organisation skills will be put to use as you:

  • provide overall administrative support for the School’s PhD students and supervisors, PGR education delivery and student experience, including ensuring appropriate information, materials and procedures are in place and adhered to;
  • ensure all milestone and PGR deadlines / arrangements are rigorously prepared for and communicated to students.

Essential requirements

You will need a good level of education or equivalent experience and have experience of working to support teaching / education delivery, ideally in a university setting. Your ability to work independently, resolving problems as required, reporting on progress and outcomes of issues and actions is essential to this role.

Further information

The post is full-time and permanent starting as soon as possible. The post will be based at the St Mary’s Campus (Paddington), with occasional travel to other campuses when needed.
