Job summary

This post at the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) is for an outstanding postdoctoral Research Associate, who is passionate and experienced in regenerative medicine. You’ll focus your research on therapeutic angiogenesis, extracellular vescicles, microRNAs, and nanomedicine. The clinical setting is heart ischemic disease.

You will join a highly successful team leaded by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Professor Costanza Emanueli (who has recently relocated to Imperial after many successful years of research at the University of Bristol). Moreover, you will join the BHF Regenerative Medicine centres a wonderful multi-centric network of scientists based around the most prestigious academic institutions of the UK For your project, you will additionally collaborate with the University of Tel Aviv, Israel and the University of Coimbra, Portugal.

The Emanueli lab benefits from additional national and international scientific collaborations, including an EEU COST action on Cardio RNAs

 

Duties and responsibilities

You will carry out mechanistic and translational research in endogenous and synthetic exosomes, which is directed to improve the therapeutic option for patients who suffer from heart ischaemia.

Essential requirements

You will be a passionate scientist and will be able to demonstrate that you possess the ambition and commitment vital to work in a world leading university and contribute to ground-breaking research.

You will have completed a PhD in molecular and cellular biology, bioengineering or equivalent title and will have experience of publishing in relevant and refereed journals.

Practical experience in a broad range of techniques including confocal and electron microscopy, methods for DNA/RNA analyses, cell culture and cell biology, flow cytometry (including for detection and separation of exosomes) is also required.

To work well in our team, you will have a positive personality and will be able to adapt to the many challenges of academic research.

Further information

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £35,477 - £38,566 per annum.

This role is full-time and fixed-term until 30 September 2021.
