You will work alongside Imperial’s experienced Industry Partnerships and Commercialisation (IPC) professionals on promoting College’s capabilities and licensing portfolio and securing collaborative research and commercialisation income.
The internship offers a unique and exciting opportunity for highly motivated applicants to gain experience supporting the development of research collaborations with industry and the commercialisation of Imperial’s discoveries.
Duties and responsibilities
- Promoting College’s research capabilities and licensing portfolio
- Assisting with business development activities
- Support with due diligence processes on current and prospective industry partners
- Relationship and network building
- Mapping College research capabilities specific to industry partners’ areas of research interests
- Marketing, communications and event planning around University-Industry partnerships and innovation

We are looking for applicants with passion for understanding the industry-academia collaborations and commercialisation. You must have completed an undergraduate level degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific or technological discipline.
You must be proficient in using computer software systems such as Microsoft Office applications, online databases and other ICT applications. You will also need to be able to plan and progress work activities, using initiative and judgement.
You will work with a wide range of people so good interpersonal and relationship management skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain good working relationships are essential in this role.
To take advantage of the internship, ideally you will be a quick learner used to working independently and dealing with unforeseen problems or circumstances in a proactive and methodical manner.
Successful applicants should have or be about to complete a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline and experience of science or engineering commercialisation would be a desirable. You should also demonstrate a passion for enterprise, ideally also possessing some experience of related activities.
This is a full time and fixed term role for 6 months.
