If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to act as the interface between the College and external organisations to increase the engagement of academics as consultants to external organisations.
Our Enterprise Division is seeking a Consultant Engagement Manager (Medicine and Natural Sciences) to provide specialist commercial expertise to develop, scope and price consultancy opportunities.
Duties and responsibilities
You will be responsible for growing the amount of consultancy undertaken by the academic community ensuring that all successful opportunities are commercially viable, provide academic benefit and aligned with governance and legal structures.
Your duties will include:
- Identifying and engaging new consultants
- Developing new opportunities with consultants
- Proactively preparing commercial proposals and tenders
Essential requirements
You will have previous experience of business development and/or relationship management and will possess proven skills to add value to the team. You will use your management, influencing and relationship building skills to maintain a complete portfolio of consultant engagement opportunities within your assigned areas, coordinating the relationship between the companies and the consultant community.
The role will include working with key academic staff as well as representatives from client/customer organisations, so strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical. The role also requires you to be flexible in your work and to be able to complete a variety of tasks simultaneously.
This career opportunity will draw on your experience gained in a position such as Relationships Manager, Business Development Manager, Engagement Manager, Corporate Partnerships Manager, Client Manager, Client Liaison, Consultant, or similar.

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
