Please ensure you read the Registry document which sets out Instructions to Candidates for Examination, and the following important instructions for students sitting examinations in EEE / EIE.

  • You must attend 15 minutes before each exam is due to start.
  • The examination timetables will be published by the EEE Exams team, so please mark the dates and times of your exams in your calendar as soon as you receive it. The exam rooms will be confirmed on the seating plan on the day of the exam itself.
  • Examinations set by Imperial Business School, Department of Computing and Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication may be held in different buildings. Please check appropriate department's exam timetable for details.
  • For exams held in EEE building, a seating plan will be posted on the noticeboards on level 2 showing where you should sit. The seating plans are posted one hour before the start of each exam. This means that if your exam starts at 10.00 the seating plans will be available from 9.00 onwards, and if your exam starts at 14.30 the seating plans will be available from 12.30 onwards.
  • Please check your room and seat number before you enter the exam room. Once you take your seat, please make sure the information on the label of your Exam booklet is correct. In particular, please check that the CID number is correct to ensure that you are sitting in the correct seat.
  • Candidates may take into any examination normal writing instruments (pens, erasers, etc.), slide rules, drawing instruments and colouring materials (pencils or crayons).  Any bag used for carrying such items MUST be transparent. In your own interest, do not use faint ink or pencil.
  • We advise you to use blue or black ink to write your answers during the exam. This is because the exam scripts will be scanned and converted to PDF after the exam and if you use pencil there is a risk that your answers will not be picked up during the scanning process.
  • You may bring a bottle of water into the examination, but this must be in a transparent bottle only. No other food or drink of any kind is permitted in any of the examination rooms.
  • You must bring your University ID card into each exam and display it on your desk so that it can be inspected by the invigilator. If you have lost your University ID card, please bring another official form of photo ID instead.
  • You may NOT take bags, outdoor coats or jackets, mobile phones, smart watches or electronic equipment of any kind into the examination rooms. Instead, please store all of your belongings, such as bags and coats, in our bag storage room, The bag storage room will usually be room 503 but if we are using a different room we will inform you. Please ensure that you allow plenty of time to put your belongings in the storage room before you start your exam. This will be enforced rigorously. Valuables such as wallets and phones can be left in the valuables box at the entrance of examination room. Room 503 will be opened 15 minutes before each exam and will remain locked for the duration of the exam.
  • Examinations are normally CLOSED-BOOK: that is, no written or printed material may be taken into them.  In OPEN-BOOK examinations, the module leader will state which materials candidates may bring to the exam.  Your exam timetable and your lecturer will indicate which exams, if any, are OPEN-BOOK.
  • You must observe silence all the time that you are in the exam room. When you enter the room, you must not start reading the exam paper until instructed by the invigilator.  At the end, you must remain silent and seated while the papers are collected. When you leave the room, you must NOT remove any unused answer books, other exam stationery or calculators from the desk.
  • Any candidates with extra exam arrangements will be contacted by Emma Rainbow.
