Students studying on the year abroad programme follow either MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or MEng Electronic and Information Engineering in years 1-3. The fourth year is spent at one of our partner institutions studying   programme equivalent to the fourth year programme at Imperial. This is an integrated year abroad so the grades you achieve will count directly towards your Imperial degree.

You will undertake a programme equivalent to the 4th year programme at Imperial. You will attend modules worth 65 ECTS consisting of:

  • 30 ECTS from examined modules (equivalent to six modules at Imperial)
  • 30 ECTS from individual project
  • 5 ECTS from Professional competencies portfolio

You can also opt to study for a Bologna-compliant degree for which you will need to undertake some additional work. This awards 90 ECTS in the final year. You will need to have either taken the 3rd year Industrial Placement, or have done appropriate industry placements during your 2nd and 3rd year for additional ECTS.


You will also need to write a cultural dissertation on subject of interest to engineers that relates to your host country. It could for example describe a sector of industry, compare host country and the UK, and discuss its impact on society. Or it could describe a piece of research, and its impact on the industry in the host country and the UK.
