Celebrating 175 years of the Royal School of Mines!
2026 is a milestone year. It marks the 175th anniversary of the Royal School of Mines (RSM) – one of the founding colleges of Imperial that today hosts the Departments of Earth Science and Engineering (ESE) and Materials – as well as 25 years of ESE.
In celebration, ESE is holding a series of events and activities throughout 2026 that together will reflect on our past achievements and milestones, celebrate who we are right now, and look forwards to the future, exploring key themes of research, learning and culture within the department.
