Research administration is is organised in five broad research groups. These groups are the custodians of the key technical disciplines and centres of expertise that we bring to applications and to inter-disciplinary research.

    Sarah leads the development and implementation of research strategies in the Department, collaborating closely with academic staff, industry partners, and funding bodies to identify opportunities, develop proposals, and drive research excellence.

Research management and administration

Research support in the Department is provided by our Research and Finance Manager, and a team of seven Senior Research Group Administrators (SRGAs).

SRGAs are responsible for coordinating and providing effective professional administrative support across the groups, and acting as a contact point for staff and research students. This includes elements of financial and resource management, pre- and post-award research management and HR.

    Liam leads a team of Research Administrators, providing proactive support to academic staff, overseeing their research and finance operations, ensuring funds are spent within guidelines, income and expenditure closely monitored and Department’s research and finance strategy implemented across a wide-ranging portfolio. He is the primary contact for research and finance operations between the Department and the Faculty of Engineering.
