Maintenance Apprenticeship Scheme
In Estates Facilities, our mission is to provide quality, sustainable environments where learning thrives. Our skilled Maintenance Technicians are vital and deliver a comprehensive responsive and preventative maintenance service across our buildings and campuses.
Our Maintenance Apprenticeship Scheme is a four-year training programme combining on-the-job training with academic study. In the first year, you will attend Kingston College full-time to train in their workshops and gain the practical skills you will need in your role. You will also study for your technical certificate at level 2 and start your level 3 BTEC Diploma in Operations and Maintenance Engineering. You will then undertake a series of 6 month placements across teams and campuses, gaining technical skills and experience. In addition to the rotations, you will study towards your NVQ Level 3 in Electro-Mechanical Maintenance, complete your BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Operations and Maintenance and progress onto a BTEC Level 4 HNC in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualifications as part of a one day per week day release to Kingston College.
Applicants should have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9-5 (A* to C) including Mathematics and English Language and GSCE grade 9-5 (A* to C) in Science or a BTEC Level 2 or Extended Diploma in Engineering. We are looking for somebody with practical evidence of an interest in engineering. The successful candidate will be computer literate and with excellent customer service skills and a dedicated approach to supporting the customer operation. You must have must have full command of written and spoken English. No previous work experience is necessary.
