Payroll Apprenticeship Scheme
Payroll is a dynamic profession that brings new challenges every day. Imperial’s busy Pension and Payroll team processes salary payments to over 10,000 employees and workers every month and handles more than £350 million worth of payments a year! As our apprentice, you will be developed and supported by an experienced team of professionals who will help you to become a fully competent Payroll Assistant with a highly transferable set of skills. Fully aligned to the Payroll Administrator Apprenticeship Standard, this programme combines hands-on experience with a special programme of off-the-job learning. On completion, you will be eligible to apply for membership of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) or the Global Payroll Association (GPA).
Based at our South Kensington campus, our Payroll and Pensions apprentice will undertake a range of progressively more demanding activities as they progress in the role. Responsibilities will include:
- Building a basic knowledge of payroll administration and relevant legislation
- Assisting the team with administrative duties
- Learning to use the core payroll system (full training will be given)
- Entering data into our payroll and pensions system
- Answering basic telephone and email enquiries from staff
You should have GCSE English and Maths at grade 9-5 (A*-C) and good numerical, organisational and communication skills. You will have a good eye for detail and be able to maintain confidentiality. No prior experience is required, but you should be interested in engaging in all aspects of processing payroll and willing to adapt to the changing needs of the role.
How do I apply?
The scheme will open for applications in early November 2019 - please check back for updates!
