This expedition was a scientific and cultural field study conducted in the remote Turkana region of northern Kenya, near Lake Rudolf (now Lake Turkana). The area was deliberately chosen because it remained relatively unaffected by modern development and had received little prior scientific attention.

Climatic observations revealed extremely hot and dry conditions with minimal cooling at night, high year‑round temperatures with daily maxima between 92–99°F, and low annual rainfall averaging 5.7 inches near Lodwar. These environmental challenges limited fieldwork during peak afternoon heat but were mitigated somewhat by breezes on higher ground.

Overall, the report provides a detailed portrait of the region’s ecology, climate, and Turkana culture, while documenting logistical challenges the expedition faced in conducting scientific work in one of Kenya’s most remote environments.
