Ahmad Firdaus is a Reservoir Engineer at SLB with broad experience in delivering engineering solutions and consulting to various clients across Southeast Asia, covering technology adoption, reservoir management, field development planning, and CCS consultancy. He is currently pursuing his MSc in Geo Energy with Machine Learning and Data Science at Imperial College London. He has been an active SPE member for almost a decade, leading student liaison in his previous role in the SPE Kuala Lumpur Section. Firdaus is passionate about integrating AI/Machine Learning to accelerate subsurface studies, drive efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions.


Vice President: Muhammad Sidqi

Muhammad Sidqi is a Geoscientist with 5 years of experience in the geothermal industry, specialized in data science, digitalization, and subsurface evaluation. He has proven track record across sectors, handling multiple roles and responsibilities, covers software R&D, technical consulting in geothermal exploration and development, and energy education technology outreach. Sidqi is currently pursuing an MSc in Geo-Energy with Machine Learning and Data Science at Imperial College London and holds a bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. Combining his experience with knowledge and skills, Sidqi aspires to become a prominent figure in geothermal data science and technology and contribute meaningfully to global net-zero goals and sustainable energy development by democratizing data-driven solutions. Sidqi serves as the Vice President of the SPE Imperial College.

Aidana Kairly is currently pursuing an MSc in Geo-Energy with Machine Learning and Data Science. Building on her Petroleum Engineering background from the Kazakh-British Technical University and hands-on experience with industry leaders such as Chevron, SLB, and Wood Mackenzie, she is passionate about applying data-driven approaches to solve complex challenges in the energy sector.

As the Membership Chairperson of the SPE Imperial College Chapter, Aidana aims to strengthen member engagement, expand the active membership base, and elevate the chapter’s visibility within the global SPE community.


Technical Chair: Madiyar Koyanbayev

Madiyar, currently serving as the Technical Chair of the SPE Imperial College Chapter, holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from the Kazakh-British Technical University and is pursuing an MSc in Geo-Energy with Machine Learning and Data Science at Imperial College London. With professional experience at oil and gas companies such as Weatherford and KazMunayGas in Kazakhstan, along with research experience at Nazarbayev University, Madiyar has developed strong technical expertise and a solid understanding of both industry and academic environments.

As a key member of the Imperial College SPE team, Madiyar is eager to apply his previous experience and knowledge to support the chapter’s objectives. His main responsibilities include planning and organizing workshops and events that provide students with opportunities for learning, networking, and professional development. Additionally, he aims to strengthen the ICL SPE brand and contribute to the chapter’s continued growth and success. His dedication and commitment reflect his passion for enhancing the SPE community at Imperial College.


Treasurer: Ruslan Fezidov

Ruslan Fezidov is the Treasurer of the SPE Imperial College London Student Chapter and an MSc Advanced Chemical Engineering student at Imperial College London. His academic focus spans process optimisation, sustainable engineering, and data-driven approaches to energy systems, reflecting his interest in innovative and practical solutions for the evolving energy sector.

Before joining Imperial, Ruslan was an active member of the SPE ASOIU Student Chapter, where he supported technical events, member engagement, and collaboration with industry partners. This experience strengthened his organisational, leadership, and communication skills, and deepened his commitment to SPE’s mission of advancing professional development within the energy community.

As Treasurer, Ruslan oversees budgeting, financial planning, and sponsorship coordination to ensure the chapter can deliver impactful activities throughout the year. He works closely with the committee to enhance student learning, strengthen industry connections, and support a dynamic and inclusive chapter environment. Dedicated and detail-oriented, Ruslan aims to help SPE ICL continue providing valuable opportunities in technical growth, networking, and professional advancement.


Secretary: Ario Bhismo Nugroho

Ario Bhismo Nugroho is an MSc Metals Finance candidate at Imperial College London with a background as an engineer at Toyota, blending technical rigor with sharp business and finance thinking. He’s now diving into metals and energy finance, working at the intersection of project valuation, capital markets, and the energy transition. With experience leading a hydrogen car team and driving process improvements in manufacturing, Ario brings high energy, ownership mindset, and a get-things-done attitude to every team he joins.

 


Communications Chair: Rza Abdullayev

Contact Rza

Rza Abdullayev is currently pursuing an MSc in Geo-Energy with Machine Learning and Data Science at Imperial College London. With a background in Petroleum Engineering from Baku Higher Oil School, Rza developed a strong interest in reservoir engineering, carbon storage, and the computational methods that support them.

Rza has gained hands-on industry experience through Petroleum Engineer internships at the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), as well as the Reservoir Engineer internship at BP (AGT region).

Parallel to his engineering studies, he began building competencies in programming and analytics through coursework in Python, SQL, and machine learning, complemented by additional training through data science programmes and online specialisations.

As a Communications Chairperson, Rza aims to support the SPE Imperial Chapter by improving the visibility of its activities. He hopes to strengthen the chapter’s collaborations with industry professionals and help promote events that bring together students, researchers, and practitioners. Ultimately, Rza intends to contribute to building a more connected and active SPE community at Imperial.


Program Coordinator/Chair: Wan Bazlan Farid Wan Nur Balqish

Balqish, originally from Malaysia, is currently pursuing the MSc Geo-Energy with Machine Learning and Data Science at Imperial College London. With an academic foundation in geology and early experience in seismic interpretation, structural mapping and geospatial analysis, she has also explored computational approaches including U-Net–based fault detection, well-top prediction using Random Forest, and basic software development from a previous internship.

As the Programmes & Activities Chair for the SPE Imperial Chapter, she helps design, organise and coordinate technical talks, skills workshops and professional development events. Her focus is on creating inclusive, interdisciplinary spaces that bring together students from geoscience, engineering, digital energy and sustainability backgrounds.

Balqish is especially passionate about helping students discover pathways in the energy transition and supporting those who are new to the field. Her work aims to ensure that SPE remains a welcoming community where students can learn, connect and explore opportunities across both traditional and emerging energy domains.
