Start-up company
The team has formed a spinout company in the UK, Sonalis (https://sonalis.ai/), to translate and commercialise their work, and to provide a means to take that work through clinical trials and regulatory approval, facilitating its commercialisation and clinical uptake. Imperial College London is a shareholder in Sonalis.
Sonalis is translating the team’s research into real-world healthcare solutions by commercialising ultrasound tomography and novel devices for brain imaging.
The TRUST (Transmission and Reflection UltraSound Tomography) team’s mission is to develop safe, affordable, portable and precise imaging and intervention whole-body medical devices based on the use of advanced seismic imaging techniques, ultrasound and electric fields and supercomputing to overcome the limitations of current medical devices.
Designed for use beyond traditional hospital settings, including remote and resource-limited environments, these devices aim to bring advanced diagnostic imaging and intervention directly to patients and help reduce global disparities in access to high-quality medical imaging and ensure that technological advances benefit diverse populations worldwide.
The TRUST research team brings together physicists, engineers, mathematicians, clinicians, and software developers from a wide range of backgrounds and operates across the Department of Earth Science and Engineering and the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London.
