What is a Risk Assessment?
A risk assessment is a document used to identify hazards and record your thoughts on how to keep yourself and others safe while carrying out a project or activity.
It helps you:
- Think about what could go wrong before you start.
- Reduce the likelihood of accidents or incidents.
- Enables others to review your assessment and identify risks you may have missed.
- Demonstrate that safety has been considered and planned for.
Why Complete a Risk Assessment?
Risk assessments are important because they:
- Protect you and those around you.
- Help prevent injuries, damage, or disruption to your project.
- Encourage careful planning before work begins.
- Provide evidence that risks have been considered and managed.
How a Risk Assessment is done for your project
For the purpose of your project work, the Technical Team has created a structured questionnaire in Microsoft Forms. It focuses on the risks commonly associated with electronic engineering projects and is designed to speed up the risk‑assessment process.
The questionnaire is reviewed annually to ensure all questions remain accurate, relevant, and up to date.
Please ensure you provide a sufficiently detailed project description. This allows us to identify any risks that may fall outside the scope of the standard questions and ensures your assessment is complete.
See previous page for contact to get the process under way.
