“Part of my MBA was generously funded by the Forté Foundation. I knew for some time I wanted to get an MBA, so I was researching and applying to schools quite early in the autumn before the programme. By doing so, there were many scholarship deadlines that I could meet, and I would encourage anyone applying to programmes to keep that in mind.”

Financing your MBA

Many of our students fund their studies through multiple funding sources, combining personal resources with education loans and scholarships. We have listed some of the options for you below.

Funding options

If you are a UK or EU student who meets certain criteria, you can apply for the  Postgraduate Master's Loan from the UK government. See the gov.uk website for more information.

The US Federal Loans Scheme allows various different types of loans to assist students with the cost of their studies.

Lendwise  is a specialist loan provider dedicated to education finance for UK residents who are looking to fund their postgraduate studies at top universities.

Individual banks, building societies and other lenders offer study loans.

Prodigy Finance is a loan provider for international postgraduate students at the world’s top business schools. The Prodigy Finance loan is available to full time students. You will be eligible to apply for the Prodigy Finance loan once you have a firm offer from us.

Some of our students are either wholly or partly sponsored by their employers. To gain the support of your employer to sponsor your MBA studies, it’s important to build a strong business case that demonstrates how the programme can help you and your organisation.

You need to persuade your employer that funding your education would be a good business investment.

Top tips:

  • Clarify your career goals Identify your company policy
  • Speak to colleagues who have been sponsored
  • Decide on the kind of sponsorship you want from your employer
  • Invite your employer to find out more about the programme

There are several externally funded scholarship options available to Full-Time MBA students including The Chevening scholarship. You can find details of further non-Imperial scholarships here.

You should consider what personal resources are available to you and evaluate your income, assets and your lifestyle expenses. Personal resources reduce your dependency on loans and other financing options.

For UK residents, for further information on financial assistance to support your learning, please visit gov.uk or contact 0800 100 900.

If you have completed the Mergers & Acquisitions or Private Equity programmes offered by Imperial Executive Education within the last three years, you can have your certificate accredited towards a Global Online MBA. If credited, this will replace one elective module option. You will be entitled to a discount of 5% (stackable to a maximum of 10%) applied to the Global Online MBA fees.

This is subject to successful completion of the programme with a pass and admission to the Global Online MBA programme via the standard admission process. Successful completion of the Executive Education programme does not guarantee admission to the Global Online MBA.

Scholarships awarded by Imperial College Business School are in the form of a reduction of the tuition fee. Therefore, if you receive another scholarship that pays the full tuition fee directly to the College, you cannot also receive a scholarship from the Business School.
