Imperial issues guidance on the criteria for awarding bonus payments and the amounts that should be awarded for each grade.

Imperial employs Clinical Academic staff who are employed on NHS National terms and conditions. Some Clinical Academics receive Excellence Awards, which are not under Imperial’s control or funded by Imperial. These are, in effect, bonus payments awarded by the Department of Health & Social Care to senior Clinical Academics based on their clinical and academic contribution.

Although Imperial does not decide these bonuses, they affect the bonus pay gap at Imperial because a higher proportion of senior Clinical Academic staff are white. Therefore, Clinical Excellence Awards have been analysed separately.

The figures below show the bonuses for staff where disability is known and stated.
