We will consider a salary advance to you in the following circumstances:
- at the beginning of employment, pending your first month’s pay;
- on compassionate grounds, e.g. to pay funeral expenses.
In other exceptional circumstances, an advance may be approved by the Staff Hub in consultation with the relevant People Partnering team.

We are able to provide an interest-free loan facility to assist you if you are:
- a current or prospective (must have been issued with an offer of employment or conditional offer) non-EEA staff member and your dependants, with payment of UK visa fees and/or Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) costs, or
- a current non-EEA, EEA, or Swiss national staff member and your dependants, with payment of UK residency application fees or Citizenship costs.
University staff can benefit from an interest-free loan to help with the costs of part-time study while employed by Imperial.
The aim is to help you engage in a study that will further your career aspirations, yet falls outside of the provision available within the Season ticket loan.
The Cycle to Work scheme allows staff to apply for a loan to purchase a bicycle from approved retailers.
At the end of the rental period, you'll have the option to purchase the bicycle. Because the loan is deducted through salary sacrifice, you'll benefit from tax relief and a reduced National Insurance rate.
We offer an interest-free loan to help staff pay a deposit when moving into a privately rented property.
